YELLOW WARNING of RAIN for northwest Scotland.

Outbreaks of rain reaching northwest Scotland later on Saturday evening will spread southeast across the country overnight and on Sunday. The rain will become persistent and often heavy across western areas, and as much milder air arrives, lying snow in upland areas will thaw. Clearer showery weather will reach the Northwest Highlands on Sunday evening, the more persistent rain clearing southwards from Argyll by Monday morning.

The public should be aware of the risk of localised flooding, particularly on the road network, where there will be a lot of surface water and spray.

Valid 0001 Sunday to 0600 Monday.

YELLOW WARNING of WIND for eastern Scotland.

Gales are expected to affect parts of eastern Scotland at times during Sunday. Gusts between 55 and 65 mph locally, and in excess of 70 mph over hills.

The public should be aware of the possibility of minor disruption, in particular to road travel.

Valid 1500 Sunday to 1200 Monday.

YELLOW WARNING OF RAIN for central and southwest Scotland.

Outbreaks of rain spreading southeast across Scotland on Sunday will turn heavier across the western Central Belt and Southwest Scotland during the afternoon and evening. The rain will continue overnight and into Sunday morning before clearing southwards by early afternoon.

The public should be aware of the risk of localised flooding, particularly on the road network, where there will be a lot of surface water and spray.

Valid 1500 Sunday to 1500 Monday.

YELLOW WARNING of WIND for eastern England.

Gales are expected to affect parts of eastern England at times during Sunday and Monday. Gusts between 55 and 65 mph seem likely to the east of hills, and in excess of 70 mph over hill tops.

The public should be aware of the possibility of minor disruption, in particular to road travel.

Valid 1500 Sunday to 1200 Monday.

YELLOW WARNING of RAIN for northern England.

Rain will affect many parts of northern and northwest England at times on Sunday and Monday. In view of high existing river-levels in parts of Yorkshire, the public should be aware of the possibility of some minor flooding, affecting for example some road networks.

Valid 1200 Sunday to 1800 Tuesday.

YELLOW ALERT of RAIN for north Wales.

Heavy rain will affect North Wales on Tuesday. Given high river levels from recent heavy rain, the public should be aware of the risk of further flooding, for example affecting some roads.

There are no flood warnings in force anywhere in the United Kingdom.
About the Met Office Weather Warnings

BBC Weather carries two types of weather warnings issued by the Met Office: Warnings and Early Warnings.

Warnings will be issued when severe weather is expected within the next 24 hours.

Early Warnings will be issued more than 24 hours ahead of severe weather.

There are three categories of event Red, Amber and Yellow – the most severe is Red.

A Warning and an Early Warning of the same colour have the same severity but are forecast to arrive at different times. Thus, the difference between a Red Warning and a Red Early Warning is the lead time of the event.

When a warning is in force, full information can be found at Met Office Weather Warnings
    About Flood Warnings

The flood warnings are issued by the Environment Agency, the Scottish Environment Protection Agency and Natural Resources Wales, and sent to the BBC Weather Centre. We then issue a compendium of warnings based on the latest information available. When severe flood warnings are issued they will also be highlighted on TV broadcasts.
