Over 60 people have been taken to hospital after a school bus crashed with another bus and a tanker truck in central Sweden on Monday morning.

The crash occurred outside of rebro, central Sweden, on the E20 highway. One of the buses in the accident was carrying school children on a study trip to Stockholm from Skara.

Many people started screaming and I wondered what happened, 16-year-old Emelie Johannesson, who was half asleep at the time, told the Aftonbladet newspaper.

Around 60 people have been taken to the rebro University Hospital, which is in a state of crisis and has had to clear its emergency room to take in more patients.

This means that we are working with redirecting all conceivable resources in the hospital so we can take in all the patients, hospital spokeswoman Ulrika Julin told the TT news agency.

At least four people are reported to be seriously injured. Other motorists, meanwhile, are seeing long queues as an emergency team clears the highway of debris.

11:06

Anders Clark:
According to Solveig Andersson, president of ninth grade were, they had a bus with students on excursion. They were hit from behind by another bus.

How did the truck driver?
11:24

Anders Clark:
Jonathan: I understand that the truck driver is one of the four listed as seriously injured.
11:24

Comment by Martin
As you can probably explain what “disaster mode” in a hospital means?
11:26

Anders Clark:
Martin: Disaster Area in hospital means in this case as follows:

ER utrymms and regular emergency patients brought to gastro clinic that also vacated from normal patients.
Staff from the hospital, the rest being diverted to emergency room and surgery to receive the acute cases.
The people from the accident found harmless gather in one of the hospital’s halls.

11:26

Anders Clark:
… it is thus a way to mobilize hospital resources to save lives.
11:35

Comment from Bjrne
Different tasks in different media ang. nationality of the tourists. Everything from overseas, Japanese to Korean tourists. Do you know for sure what they are from?
11:36

Anders Clark:
Bjrne: “Korea if I understand it right, we’ve talked to their embassy and the Foreign Ministry,” says Mats Nylen at rebro police
11:36

Comment from Grandma
High speed and short distance between the cars is the reason for this?
11:37

Anders Clark:
Grandmother: We do not know what caused the accident. Police have started an investigation and will provide information on this issue in the future.
11:41

Anders Clark:
Now, police have counted up the number of injured to 19 person. But how seriously injured the 19’s would not care to answer. No life-threatening damage.
11:42

Anders Clark:
Police are not yet announced the relative number. But according to Mats Nylen at rebro police have most unfortunate called home themselves. The number will primarily be for families who have not received any calls.
11:43

Anders Clark:
30.12 holding hospital press conference.
11:47

Anders Clark:

The hospital has completed disaster situation but “enhancement mode” is still running, according to a press release from the hospital.
11:48

Comment from marcus
read on Corren it was a tanker truck and two buses collided, is that correct?
11:48

Anders Clark:
Marcus: A tanker, two buses and two cars were involved, exactly how the accident went to is not yet clear, but read the article on the site to get an overview of what has happened. Then you are welcome back with questions!
11:48

Comment from work
How is the traffic on the site to the east? Dare you to go away?
11:49

Anders Clark:
Pottering: Traffic will roll since 10:30 o’clock, but then the queues were up to one mil-long during the rescue operation, it is not guaranteed that it rolls at full speed.
11:49

Comment from Bjrne
Starts to AB (which is always on the ball) sends the press conference?
11:50

Anders Clark:
Bjrne: We are working on it. If we do not initiate a transmission so I will try to persuade some benevolent soul to put his phone at the press table and report live here.
11:52

Comment from Donald
The extent has it been on the rescue operation? Has it been reinforcements from other counties, etc.?
11:54

Anders Clark:
Donald: In all honesty, I do not glance at it. The ambulances have driven shuttled to the scene and there have been upwards of 20 police officers on the spot. Firefighters have I not got since 9:30 o’clock.
11:54

Comment from Bjrne
Thank you. Only you do your best, you must be satisfied. Good info so far. Good job!
11:54

Anders Clark:
Bjrne: Thank you so much. Baste with the questions!
12:02

Comment by Martin
Fucking good. I myself have an eye on it roughly, but good to explain it to anyone not in the know at all.
12:03

Anders Clark:
Thank you. Yes, as I said, they have left the disaster situation and gone down to gain position.
12:03

Anders Clark:

… so now candied u ask what “enhancement mode” means😉
12:08

Comment by Martin
“What does the amplification mode?”
12:09

Comment from Bjrne
Wondering if the “enhancement mode” means that you have more personnel available than normal (not entirely sure).
12:10

Anders Clark:
Bjorn is on to something. Gain Mode is that it allows a lower readiness than into disaster mode.
In practice it means that you have the ability to use more staff to management and can point reinforce aspects of health care that need it. In this case, it is the large number of injured people who need to be treated in the emergency room.
12:13

Comment by Martin
“2nd Gain Mode Allows disaster management at a hospital takes action point strengthening of key functions in health care.”
12:14

Comment by Martin
That’s basically the same on the various hospitals to standard procedures at both amplification mode and emergency mode, however, I believe that the use of various “departments” to move patients to. Have me that the TSO, they have a number of different departments, and to the use of AVA in disaster mode to take care of the most critical.
12:15

Anders Clark:
Glad you are involved!
The basis of the gain and disaster mode is simply to hospitals realize they will not be able to handle the event so that staffing and organization looks like, then organizes the on and call in extra staff if necessary.
12:17

Anders Clark:
Is there anything you want me to ask the hospital or the police about the accident?
12:17

Comment from Joakim
Radio reports that there has been a further incident at about the same place in the queues which have become. The scope is as yet unclear.
12:17

Anders Clark:
Joakim: That’s right, we’re working on it. But it was a few miles away.
12:19

Anders Clark:
My colleague is working with the event and says it’ll be two cars and a truck involved. Unclear injury position.
12:19

Comment from Bjrne
Ask about the situation is critical for any of the casualties (we hope not)?
12:20

Anders Clark:
Bjrne: We will definitely try to sort out the injury situation. We have previously been told that four are seriously injured, but it was when a total of 13 were injured, now we’re up to 19 and the hospital would not say how seriously wounded they are before the press conference.
12:20

Anders Clark:
UPDATE: In the second accident on the E18 should a person be seriously injured.
12:21

Comment from Guest
Hey, are you planning to broadcast live from the scene?
12:23

Anders Clark:
Guest: We’re still working on it. Our photographer Conny Seln makes a valiant job. have been out on accident and photographed and filmed. He is now in place at the hospital and trying to resolve technical. As yet unclear whether we can leverea video or just a phone call eavesdropping reporter (me) who write here.
12:29

Anders Clark:

The second incident is alleged to have been due to the large queues at the site

12:33

Anders Clark:

rebro police spokesman, Mats Nylen says.
12:34

Anders Clark:
It is terribly poor reception from the press conference, unfortunately.
12:36

Anders Clark:
“It could have gone much worse”
12:37

Anders Clark:
Now they’re talking about emergency situation at the hospital.
As we talked about earlier: Regular emergency has been a disaster emergency, other patients be switched to another room.
12:39

Comment from Bjrne
An accident will rarely alone! Even Tvrsnytt which would broadcast live, have hassles.
12:40

Anders Clark:
Bjrne: But it itches always in the skin when it can not deliver as planned!
12:40

Anders Clark:
There have been talks about a relative number to the police. But now tells police that all injured have been unable to contact relatives.
12:41

Anders Clark:
Which basically means that you who sat and worried about you, that ye may know someone from the accident can take a breather.
12:43

Anders Clark:
– It seems that the buses run into each other and the truck comes as a third vehicle and try to swerve. But it gets investigators show.
12:43

Anders Clark:
– There is a bus with students from Skara – and with tourists from Korea.
12:44

Comment from chabbe
Floats everything good now or is there still a traffic jam that is lagging?
12:44

Anders Clark:
Chabbe: Probably congested, there’ve been a second accident.
12:44

Anders Clark:
Police have called in interpreters to communicate with Koreans.
12:45

Anders Clark:
The new accident occurred in the northbound / east pedestrian lanes. Thus away from rebro.
12:46

Anders Clark:
The press conference ended. We’ll try to chop some of those responsible for an interview.
12:46

Anders Clark:
Hang in there!
12:46

Anders Clark:
Do you have any questions?
12:48

Anders Clark:
Have you read the article by my colleague Jenny Ag, she interviewed 16 year old Emelie who sat on the front of the bus was running on:

12:52

Anders Clark:
No life threatening.
12:53

Anders Clark:
Talking to Johanna Lindblom in the hospital
12:55

Anders Clark:
The 19 who not only did omplstring needed more medical intervention. The seriously injured have been taken care of the trauma team, rayed or transferred to different departments.
– We remain in the amplification mode.
12:56

Anders Clark:
– They get the care they need, then we are trying to clean up after the disaster and stay in the gain mode because the second accident.
12:56

Anders Clark:
Johanna Lindblom describes the situation in the ER as well.
– They have come into sporadic and we have had good staffing so it’s been easy to.
12:57

Anders Clark:
Other people who come to the hospital to be taken care of gastro reception.
12:59

Anders Clark:
Johanna Lindblom was acute nurse, but became the lead nurse in disaster preparedness.
12:59

Anders Clark:
Is there anything you feel that we have failed to answer?
13:00

Comment from Guest
why the hell is there so much crashes on e18 …. is not exactly as it is hard to drive down the road (I drive it daily)
13:00

Anders Clark:
Guest: The second accident must have occurred because of the queues. It is not unusual that the queues causing new casualties.
13:00

Comment from Betty
Aftonbladet – it’s well E20 and not E18??
13:00

Anders Clark:
Betty: E20 and E18 go together in rebro and continues with common conditions to the northeast.
13:01

Comment from Oscar
Is there any wounded seriously injured from the bus crowd?
13:01

Anders Clark:
Oscar: They have not gone out with the people injured more or less seriously.
13:03

Anders Clark:
But again: No life-threatening injured in the first accident.

13:18

Anders Clark:
Professional drivers: So pretty! Here one begins to get a little sluggish after having worked since 06 and only eaten cottage cheese …
13:21

Comment from professional driver
Anders: That’s cool. Thought Conny will be happy if the name is spelled correctly. Incidentally, cottage cheese both good and useful, but not enough for a full workday. Go for it!
13:22

Anders Clark:
The professional driver: Thank you. Oh yes, I like it, “slemigt but satisfying” as Timon in The Lion King said.
13:22

Comment by Barbro Lindberg
Can not provide you with anything to eat?
13:23
