US: 3 Alarm fire in Webster, MA forces 2 men to jump out 2nd floor window – Speculation that fire hydrant not working, delaying water to blaze – 310513 1220z

(NECN: Kathryn Sotnik)

“A fire has destroyed a house in Webster, Mass. It forced people inside to literally jump out the second-floor windows.

The 3-alarm fire is at 4 Goddard Street. Fire officials are on scene at the multi-family home.

Everyone did get out safely, however one man is badly injured after jumping out of a second-floor window.

There were five people at home when the fire started. There were two people on the second floor and three people on the first.

The two people on the second floor were two 49-year-old men. Both of them had to jump to safety out the second floor window. The first guy to jump out the window apparently broke his hip and was rushed to a local hospital.

NECNs Kathryn Sotnik spoke with the second man, John Noga, who jumped out the window but only has minor injuries.”

“Fire in Webster, MA – 4-something AM. Across from the corner of Lake and Harris St. Heard some of the neighbors talking about hearing on the scanner that the fire hydrant wasn’t working and another one was taken out. Please note that this is hearsay and I can’t verify this one way or the other. It appeared that the blaze was going for quite some time before the firefighters were able to get water on it.”
