Nigel Sweeny, Lifeboat Operations Manager for St Catherine’s lifeboat station, commented: “The operation showed the different operational capabilities of the two types of lifeboat which we have in Jersey. The inshore lifeboat was quickly able to attend to the casualty and the crew could then make sure that his condition did not deteriorate; the St Helier all weather lifeboat was then able to bring paramedics and police officers onto the scene and return the casualty safely to Jersey. We are pleased that the casualty was not more seriously injured but head injuries do need to be treated with the utmost caution.”

Both lifeboats then returned to their stations where they were refuelled and prepared for their next service.
