A stream of steady moisture will bring a flooding risk to central South America over the coming days.
Rain and thunderstorms should pummel Uruguay, southeastern Brazil, northern Argentina and parts of Paraguay late this weekend into early next week. Among the threats from this rain will be flash flooding, river flooding and mudslides.
The moisture is expected to come in waves across the region, with the first one impacting Uruguay and southeastern Brazil on Sunday. Instability may also provide for an embedded severe thunderstorm, with hail and the occasional gusty wind possible.
On Sunday night into Monday, the next wave of moisture will bring heavy rains from northern Argentina southeast through to the coast.
A final swath of moisture will impact Uruguay and southeastern Brazil on Tuesday morning, perhaps bringing the heaviest rain of the entire event to interior Uruguay.
